USMC F.I.L.B.E. 3L Hydration System

This kit is just fantastic. About two years ago I decided to add a ruck pack (weighted vest) to my hikes and was put off by the ludicrous cost of them, especially Goruck. I also thought it would be great to also have some hydration. Well, I bought a surplus "Multicam Camo 3L 100oz Military Hydration Carrier" and added weights to it (SCUBA) along with some large SS bolts through the Molle straps. It worked great and when full of water was about 25#, just perfect for a 70 YO geezer like myself. The problem with it was keeping the bladder clean between rucks because it was a PITA to get in and out. THIS kit, the USMC FILBE, changed all of that. First, it has two pockets that are just perfect for the SCUBA weights. Second, the Camelback bladder is very easy to R&R and has quick-connect fittings at the mouthpiece and the bladder. Lastly, the tube is insulated, so on a long summer ruck it does not heat up like the Army one. As an Army Vet, I have to admit the Marines one-upped us on this one. The transaction and delivery from Fort Bragg Surplus was over the top and the price can't be beat. Did I mention that I did my initial training at Ft Bragg, memories!
